Worse things came out of the 80s, surely, but this cover (Jove, 1982) screams Barbara Cartland so hard it is almost offensive to the great Georgette Heyer’s memory. From the willowy, angular bodies to the high cheekbones, this is a cover artist who was clearly confused about the novel’s authorship, no doubt because its heroine’s name does, in fact, end with an “a.” C-
