This bizarrely menacing cover sees a well-dressed if mannequin-like Arabella in a dingy alleyway, looked at askance by the matron to the side, and with those two gentleman surely up to no good. It is, of course, the scene where Arabella goes to find her debt-ridden fool of a young brother, but as that is hardly a) a highlight of the book or b) much of its import, it seems an odd choice to dwell on. C
