What an evocative cover! The looming figures in the background looking on judging the central couple, so in love but with a melancholy air, giving and receiving comfort, their regret palpable. The pulp romance style may not have pleased the book’s author (she really did not have much luck with the very few Barren Corn covers, it seems), but I think it is incredibly well executed, and would surely fill the reader with the appropriate feeling of dread to approach this story.
