This Dutch version — ontluikende liefde translates, literally, to “budding love” — at least gets the outfits right, although the candle/cape combination on the lady we can presume to be our Nell does make the novel seem rather more Gothic in tone than either the actual text or this new title would imply. Still, a valiant effort. B
