How old were you when you read your first Georgette Heyer novel?
13.
What was it?
The Grand Sophy.
How did you discover her work?
In my high school library. We had a great library, I even borrowed books for my father (he gave me my passion for reading) as there was no public library in country Victoria where we lived.
Did Heyer lead you to read other authors in similar genres?
As I am an eclectic reader and read many genres, Heyer just spurred me on to discover more authors but there are none like her. Heyer stands alone. Of course, I do read Jane Austen with a passion.
Which of her books have you read the most often?
The Grand Sophy, the Unknown Ajax, Lady of Quality, These Old Shades and Powder and Patch.
Which, if any, would you never read again?
They are all worthy of a reread.
If you could be a Heyer heroine, which would you choose?
Annis Wychwood, I love her independence, sense of humour and she is intelligent. In no rush to enter the state of married bliss. Or Miss Sophy Stanton-Lacy, I would love to have her self-determination, fearlessness, and horses.
Which Heyer hero (or heroine) would make the best husband/wife/partner?
With Hugo I would be happy forever and ever. There would never be a dull moment. And I would be loved.
How has Georgette Heyer influenced your life?
Her language, and wit has raised my literary bar and I will not tolerate sloppy, boring writing. My expectations of a partner in love, is very high also. Heyer takes me out of the doldrums and into a world of sparkle and merriment where justice reigns.
